One person was killed and 49 others injured in a tragic road accident which occurred in the early hours of Monday in the Kottayam district of Kerala following the overturning of a tourist bus. The accident occurred in one of the MC Road near Cheenkallel, which shocked both citizens and passing travelers.
Accident Details
The police of Kuravilangadu added that the accident happened at around 1 a.m when the bus returning after a tour of Kanyakumari and Thiruvananthapuram lost control after negotiating a curve close to Cheenkallel Church. The car lost control and went down the road, skidding over and hitting a tree on a road.
The dead traveler is known as Sindhu, experienced dweller of Peravoor in the district of Iritty. She later died of her injuries in a short time when she was rushed to a private hospital in Monippally.
Casualties and Injuries
The 49 occupants on board who were all residents of Iritty were immediately taken to Monippally Private Hospital and Kottayam Medical College Hospital. Although the majority of the passengers had minor injuries, some 18 people had severe trauma. According to the police officials, they are stable in condition.
In order to resume the usual flow of traffic, the government eventually sent in a crane to take away the overturned bus.
Routine Police Action and Investigation.
This is the case filed on negligent driving and death by accident against the bus driver Vino who is identified as the bus driver of Kuravilangadu police. An initial investigation indicates the possibility of the loss of control due to overspeeding and fatigue.
The officials said that the body of the dead would be released to her family and formalities of postmortem would be completed.
