Refernce to Ndtv. On Thursday, sixteen ministers of Gujarat resigned, in a major political development, only a day before Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is expected to increase his cabinet. The state government had earlier confirmed that the ceremony of cabinet expansion would be done at 11:30 a.m. on Friday in Gandhinagar.
Whole Council Resigns With Exception of CM Bhupendra Patel.
As per senior sources of BJP, the entire 16 ministers, with the exception of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel have stepped down. These resignations were allegedly following an internal audit among the leadership of the party.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) source has claimed that this move was done to clear the path of a new and more balanced team before future challenges in politics.
The source confirmed that the party has accepted the resignations of all the ministers with the exception of the chief minister.

Currently, the council of ministers of Gujarat has 17 council members out of which eight have the cabinet position and rest are Ministers of State (MoS). Gujarat has a legislative assembly consisting of 182 members thus a maximum of 27 ministers or 15 percent of the total strength of the House.
It is likely that the future expansion will introduce new faces and potentially increase the representation of underrepresented areas in an attempt to empower the administration.

This is after the internal changes experienced by Gujarat BJP. In January, the former Minister of State, Jagdish Vishwakarma was made the new president of the Gujarat BJP to replace the Union Minister, C.R. Paatil.
This rearrangement is being considered as being part of a greater organizational plan to revitalize the party prior to the following major electoral period.

The new chief minister Bhupendra Patel who came to power again on December 12, 2022, is likely to introduce ministers who share his vision of effective governance and fast development.
