Nationwide Rally Planned
Refernce to Economic Times . It has a second wave of the No Kings protests that will happen on October 18 2025 after protests by thousands of people took place in the streets in mid-June. Prethich events of up to 2,600 in US big cities are being organised by such organisers as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Indivisible, the coalition of 50501.
In their defence, they both accuse them of excessive executive over-action, aggressive immigration policies and militarised reaction to internal issues.
Trump response to the word King.
Trump in an interview on the media the night before the protest responded with a twist:
They are calling me a king. I’m not a king.”
but when I came to a thought of a previous experience, when the word was applied, he answered:
“I don’t feel like a king. I have to go through hell and have the things approved.
He recognised the word by so doing, but not its seriousness, putting humour in the situation.
What the Label Means
This accusation of being a king is not actual. Instead, protesters interpret this phrase thereof to be more of a shortened version: that the presidency is becoming more like an office of strongman, unregulated and unbalanced. The Economic Times+1
Such denial of identification and the element of making fun of it, along with the dislocation of the self, enable Trump to accept the perceived reality according to the perception of the audience, transgressing the message and the image.
Context Behind the Movement
Origins and Growth
The first major large scale No Kings rally took place on June 14, 2025, as Trump celebrated his birthday, and the U.S. Army had a 250th anniversary parade. Masses of people were attracted to the event which was covered on 2,100 cities. Wikipedia+1
The latter is the follow-up of the previous phenomenon but with the difference that it is aimed to repeat the message and involve even more participants.
Why October 18?
The time was chosen by organisers to maintain the intensity and not to allow the movement to become watered-down or to do so as the reaction to the recent political flash-points: federal shutdowns, troop deployments, and a rise in tension between the executive branch and the states. Political Reaction
The Republicans, including Mike Johnson (House Speaker) have tabulated the events as Hate America rallies and brutal their organisers as left-wing extremists.
Simultaneously, the protesters say that they defend democratic values, freedom of speech and constitutional checks. They believe it to be a demonstration which is guided by patriots and not the theatre of the partisans. The Economic Times
Why the Moment Matters
- It represents the polarization of the Americans in the light of the executive power and democracy.
- It is not a fringe protest and the event is mass as it could be a sign of discontent on a greater scale.
- The same reason is addressed in the metaphor of the king, as it also concerns an appeal to the question of legacy, to control and power, rather than to the natural politics.
- The reply to this can be regarded as strategic framing by Trump: as long as somebody is insulting you as a monarch, then you are not supposed to accept it, but humour can be used to ease the situation.
What to Watch
- Here or there is better or as good turnout than the ones in over 2,600 venues.
- The response of the law-enforcement and the local governments, particularly to the past militarised deployments.
- The messages and slogans that appear- do they stay in the power and authority region or spread out to other issues.
- The manner in which the labels will be addressed in the context in general: will the label of king stay or will the narrative be different?
