Reference to Fact Crescendo .A video footage alleged to be containing a statement of the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying that the Congress government would take its revenge on the Hindus after the oust of the BJP in power goes viral in the social media. The video asserts that he stated, that, we will avenge Hindus- Rahul Gandhi, after BJP departs.
After carefully fact-checking, it is understandable that the viral video is doctored and the statement is completely untrue. Rahul Gandhi did not even give any comment on Hindus. His initial statements were aimed at the corruption by the investigative bodies like the CBI and ED in the BJP regime.
What We Found
The reverse image search based on the screenshots of the clip detected the original video in the official YouTube channel of the Indian National Congress uploaded on March 15, 2024. This confirms that the viral video is not a recent event but an old situation.
One of the journalists posed a question to Rahul Gandhi at around 16 minutes and 30 seconds in the entire clip: The companies, which funded you by means of electoral bonds, have been disclosed. Do you think CBI or ED will also target them? Rahul Gandhi responded: It can happen. The CBI and ED do not exist as independent institutions anymore. They have turned into BJP and RSS instruments. They are no longer Indian institutions, but rather arms of the ruling party. The people doing it should bear in mind that one day, when the BJP government is ousted, the action will be implemented. I assure you, I shall never repeat such abuse in future.
The Real Context
The comments by Rahul Gandhi had to do with politicization of the national institutions and misuse of power by the ruling party. His declaration was not against any society, faith or sect. The viral clip has been selectively cut with the question and a section of his response deleted generating the misguided perception that he was talking about Hindus. This misrepresentation completely changes the meaning of what he was saying.

Upon fact checking, it is obvious that Rahul Gandhi never thought out that the Congress would act against the Hindus. His words were misused and misreported to disseminate false information.
