Praneeth Kumar Usiripalli is a 28-year-old Indian student who was arrested in the United States after allegedly stabbing two teenage boys with a metal fork in one of the Lufthansa flights between Chicago and Frankfurt. Reports indicate that the unprovable attack by Usiripalli occurred just after the meal service, when he allegedly assaulted two passengers aged 17 years and stabbed one in the shoulder and the other at the back of the head. He then hit a female customer a few moments later and tried to strike a crewmember, but was restrained.

Although this incident is being handled as an isolated criminal act, experts believe that this may trigger the temporary intensification of the student visa vetting procedures, particularly in the area of behavioral evaluation.
