BJP to Celebrate 150 Years of Vande Mataram All Over India since November 7.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will also launch a national celebration of the 150 th anniversary of the song, Vande Mataram, which begins on 7 November. It is the day when citizens of the country are encouraged to sing the hymn together. The main event is likely to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

The party has also announced that the events will be held at 150 prominent locations which are Kargil War Memorial, Cellular Jail located in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Swaraj Ashram in Odisha, Shaheed Smarak Park in Agra, and Namo Ghat in Varanasi. In West Bengal, the local events are also to be conducted around 1,100.

Events To Constitution Day.

BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said that the festivities will run between 7 November and 26 November and will end on Constitution Day. The BJP will also hold programmes both on the district and state levels and the participants will also promise to support locally manufactured products.

Many freedom fighters used to be inspired by vande Mataram during the fight of gaining independence in India; some of them sacrificed their lives singing these words, which they had.

The History of ‘Vande Mataram’

Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay composed the hymn in 1875 and it was performed first by Rabindranath Tagore in 1896. Mr. Chugh observed that in 1923, Maulana Mohammad Ali in the Indian national Congress conference at Kakinada protested against its singing on religious basis. Then in 1937, the Congress Working Committee resolved that it should take only the first two stanzas of the song and make it the national song.

Mr. Chugh also pointed out that the Congress party has always been perturbed about the issue of Vande Mataram.

With the help of such celebrations, the BJP tries to remind people about the patriotic meaning of the song Vande Mataram and its contribution to the struggle of Indian liberation. The party seeks to bring together the citizens in the spirit of togetherness, pride, and self-sufficing.
