Donald Trump said he will give every American ₹1.70 lakh (about $2,000), claiming that a lot of money has come from tariffs, and that anyone opposing tariffs is a fool.

Trump Justifies Tariff Policy, labels critics as fools.

Reference to The tribune. On Sunday, the former U.S. President Donald Trump strongly defended his unpopular policy of imposing tariffs to the point that he referred to those who criticized the policy as fools. He stated that the tariffs have turned the United States to be the richest and respected country in the world and with virtually no inflation.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, that anyone who opposed Tariffs was a FOOL! He also mentioned that the economy of the U.S is performing better under his leadership and that the stock market is at an all time low and 401(k) accounts are at their highest.

Trump Lauds 2,000 Dividend on Citizens.

Trump also proclaimed that a dividend would shortly follow amounting to 2000 dollars per head to the Americans (not the high income earner) and this will be funded through taxing the tariffs.
He claimed that the U.S is making millions of dollars through these tariffs and the funds would help the government start paying its national debt of 37 trillion dollars.

Though Trump was not very explicit on how the dividend would be implemented, he mentioned how plants and factories were being put up everywhere and this would mean that the income of the tariff is raising investments in the country.

Tariff Policies: Under Review.

The statements issued by Trump are connected to the hearings in the U.S. Supreme Court which speak about the validity of the measures that his administration implements as global taxes. It is claimed that the case that was opened on November 6 is among the largest economic cases that made it to the Court over the recent years.

The hearing saw some of the justices like Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh questioning the logic behind the imposition of broad tariffs upon a federal law. Justice Barrett in special asked the question why all the countries were treated under the same volume of tariffs reciprocally rather than specific actions.

White House and Treasury Officials are still hopeful.

The Secretary of Treasury, Scott Bessent, referred to the issue as an economic emergency, and the White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt said that the administration was assured of its legal defense.
Leavitt indicated that 100 percent President and his team supported their legal arguments. The case goes beyond the presidency of Trump, and it is a question of the future administration and the use of emergency use of tariff powers.

Economic and Political Implication.

Analysts believe that through its enforcement, Trump tariff policies can change the relationship in the U.S. trade relations and give more powers to the executive in making decisions. The hypothetical 2,000-dollar dividend, but not formally declared, can be a powerful political platform message of the vision of Trump of the first-in-the-first-out economics that he possesses.
