A bomb threat had been received at Patiala House Court in Delhi on Tuesday just before the next scheduled appearance of Mr. Jasir Bilal Wani, the second person to be arrested by the National Investigation Agency in the Red Fort blast case. Security troops immediately launched a security check up, even though the alert sounded alarms, police later identified that it was a hoax.
There were also bomb threats at the Salt Lake Courts located at Saket and Tis Hazari.
The incidence did not occur in one place and the courts reported similar threats in Saket and Tis Hazari on Tuesday. According to the bar associations, court activities were put on hold to facilitate precautionary inspections. The suspension was both two-hours, no additional problems appeared during proceedings at Saket Court.
Tarun Rana, an advocate by profession and the secretary of New Delhi Bar Association, said that the threats were sent through email to complexes of district courts. He observed that the warnings were subsequently found to be nonexistent, and the courts were not influenced after the checks were conducted.
The alleged offenses in the Red Fort Blast and Faridabad Terror Module.
Mr. Jasir Bilal Wani, also going by the name Danish had been caught in the Qazigund region of Jammu and Kashmir, over the past weekend. He was arrested along with his uncle to be questioned in regards to the Faridabad terror cell and the Red Fort blast that happened on 10 November leading to the death of over ten people.
This came after the arrest of Mr. Amir Rashid Ali, who was another suspect that was already on the custody of the National Investigation Agency.
Patiala House Court is a high security set up.
As a precautionary measure, the Rapid Action Force placed some units around the Patiala House Court, in accordance with the threat. Additionally, bomb disposal team and canine force were deployed to further secure the environment thus ensuring that the accused was returned to the court in a safe environment. These heightened activities highlighted the gravity of the authorities in regard to the circumstances, especially considering that there was a high-profile terror suspect.
