Why Suniel Says No to a majority of South offers.
Refrence to Hindustan times. Actor Suniel Shetty has in the recent past revealed why he has so rarely accepted in South Indian cinema. During the Lallantop Adda 2025 seminar in Delhi, he unveiled that film-makers often approach Bollywood actors with negative roles as the most common trend, and that is the main reason why he rejects most South films.
According to Suniel, the South Indian directors tend to offer Hindi actors the role of strong villains, an aspect, which attracts the viewers. However, he does not want to be limited to such depictions, this is why most of his offers are accepted in a polite way.
The Reason the director said YES to Rajinikanth Darbar.
He mostly refuses to accept negative roles, but made an exception to Darbar, by Suniel, when he accepted the role simply because he wanted to get a chance to work with the legendary superstar, and to realize that dream.
He made also a cameo appearance in the film Jai (In Tulu) and had been doing it mainly to encourage the local industry. In addition, he highlighted the fact that modern day filmmaking has cut across language barriers, such that powerful content can be easily spread across the borders.
The views of Suniel on transforming movies.
Suniel notes that the moviegoers are no longer judging the movies on the language but on strong storytelling. In his opinion, the powerful works can easily cut across all the boundaries and get to a wider audience, thus connecting the regional and national cinema as never before.
