A Millionaire Builds a 300-Acre Doomsday Sanctuary in Utah to family and friends.A Long-term Survival Vision.

Refrence to Hindustan Times. Jayson Orvis, an entrepreneur and content creator, has built a large 300-acre survival shelter in Utah, a place he considers can house close to 200 people as long as possible, in case a global crashing happens. Orvis, who creates the terracotta embodiment of a long-term preparedness thanks to the same principles he applies to create the film and television series about survival in post-apocalypse, is known to make the same choice with the Homestead.

What the Sanctuary Contains

The core of this unique facility is a fully organic food forest that has been designed to produce fresh veggies and fruits without chemicals or other artificial fertilizers. Orvis has observed that the land yields adequate produce to meet the daily demand and the community usually finds it difficult to harvest all the asparagus and raspberries in time. Instead, he does not keep cattle, instead, he prefers to use naturally available wildlife in the area. There are deer, elk, turkey, goats, rabbits and chicken roaming freely and this is considered healthier and more ethical source of meat by Orvis. Since animals grow naturally at their habitat up to the point of harvesting, he feels that this method creates ecological balance and yet provides the necessary food to the population.

Because the Sanctuary Lost Its Underground Bunker.

Some of the millionaires and billionaires have been reported to build underground bunkhouses that are forces resistant to blasts, but Orvis has chosen not to join this trend. He labeled the notion as a weird-prepper notion of the Cold War, claiming that one should only hide oneself under the ground in case he/she is literally at the earth-zero in the event of a nuclear explosion. Since his premises are not located in close proximity to such areas, he argues that underground entrapment would not be of much use. Moreover, he doubted the practicality of this kind of plan especially the chances of coming out of the ground after months or years and finding a world that has possibly transformed to unrecognizability. His plan rather focuses on the continuation of life on the ground and exploiting nature, thorough planning, and effective collaboration.

Who Is Going to Remain in the Compound in the middle of a crisis?

In case the world is facing a total breakdown of its society, Orvis will have his family, close friends and a trained staff with the necessary expertise housed. His team of choice incorporates various medical personnel, beekeepers, experienced gardeners, Navy SEALs and even a small force of Afghan refugee commandos who according to him provide useful survival and defence experience. He stressed that the compound will be safe and friendly and as much as the issue of safety will be a priority, they will also strive to help the neighbouring communities wherever possible. Such attitude demonstrates the belief of Orvis in the idea that true preparedness is survival skills and responsible generosity.

Constructed to Defy Perpetrators.

Orvis claims that the residents of the sanctuary are able to live forever, due to the natural richness of the land, food system he has created, and the skills of the people he will engage in the project. His long term goal is to reinterpret the modern concept of preparedness, especially in the age when it seems that uncertainty is growing across the globe. He is hoping that the project will make other people think more about sustainability and resilience even though they might never be planning to build something of the same scale.
