Russia unleashed another violent air attack on Ukraine and attacked Kyiv and multiple areas.

The attack resulted in the death of four persons and injury of at least 67 others, with a lot of property damage happening overnight. The Ukrainian military claimed that Russia fired approximately 595 drones and 43 missiles of which majority were shot down and destroyed before hitting their targets.

It was also a high alert in Poland when the strikes started at the end of the night on Saturday. Its airspace had been briefly closed around two towns along the southern border, and fighter jets were put on standby until the threat had been alleviated by Sunday morning. This new wave of attacks was centered at Kyiv.

What Zelensky Said

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky the strikes lasted almost 12 hours. He indicated that hospitals dealing with cardiac care, and factories and residential buildings were specifically targeted. Zelensky again addressed the world allies, encouraging them to supply additional defense equipment and to escalate the sanctions against Moscow to contain the aggression of Russia.

Russia’s Response

The Defense Ministry in Russia acknowledged the use of long-range missiles and drones though it did not support its actions by any civilian infrastructure. President Zelensky has been unable thus far to persuade the U.S. President Donald Trump to sanction more vigorous sanctions on Moscow despite the pleas of Ukraine.
