Foreign Minister of Israel Gideon Saar to Visit S. Jaishankar in New Delhi Today.

Refernce to Indian Express. The Foreign Minister of Israel, Gideon Saar, will meet with the External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar in New Delhi today, and it is the first time that he made an official visit to India since he took office in November 2024. The national security advisor Ajit Doval will also talk to Sa’ar who came to the capital on Monday night and will conclude his two-day visit on Wednesday.

Enhancement of India-Israel Strategic Ties.

The visit by Sa’ar comes at a critical time because the two countries are interested in enhancing their collaboration after the introduction of the Gaza Peace Plan which was suggested last month by the US President, Donald Trump. The summit is meant to renew strategic ties between New Delhi and Tel Aviv, the priorities being stability in the region, economic cooperation, and connectivity.

Preparing the Groundwork to a probable Visit by Netanyahu.

Diplomatic sources have also said that this visit might be groundwork to a possible visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the month of December. It is believed that the two leaders would talk about the project development in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor which had experienced setbacks following attacks by Hamas on October 7, 2023, that caused the deaths of more than 1,200 people and has resulted in years of violence in Gaza.

Concentrate on Economic and Connectivity Projects.

As the latest ceasefire in Gaza has brought some relative peace to this area, India and Israel are eager to revisit and develop economic relations. Delhi is key on the development of connectivity corridors linking India, the Middle East, and Europe, an initiative that is planned to be realised in the G20 Summit of 2023.

In September, the two countries also signed a Bilateral Investment Agreement, which is an indication of a new commitment to deepen the ties of trade and technology. The talks that Sa’ar has in Delhi will only continue to fast-track these partnerships and create new prospects of diplomatic interactions.

Key Takeaway:

The visit of Gideon Saar shows a new stage in relations between India and Israel, and both nations are interested in developing common directions of peace, prosperity, and regional interconnection following the years of turmoil in the Middle East.
