The procession of tractor rallies which started on Monday at Chandurbazar of the Amravati district charged a halt at Wardha, reached Nagpur on Tuesday evening. Addressing the assembly, Bachchu Kadu demanded that the government of Maharashtra declare at once conditional loans written off to farmers with a debt straight. He accused the government of overlooking the situation of cultivators and that notwithstanding the frequent pledges, the government had made no grave action in the relief of the drought and crop losses hit people.

PJP employees came to the rally in the thousands waving their banners and slogans to demonstrate their demands. Much was said concerning the inability of offering regular support and the fact that they have been on the brink due to greater debt and low remuneration.

Kadu made it very clear that this was not a protest of loan waivers alone, but also seeking justice to the farmers of Maharashtra who have served long enough to bear the toll of economic hardship, as well as, unstable weather conditions.

The traffic was halted at different times in NH-44 and made the local authorities, as well as the media, to be interested. The protestors claimed that they would continue protesting until the government released a concrete policy of loan waiver.

The Nagpur tractor rally is thus a tremendous wake up call to the government that is confronted with a rising impatience by the farmers that are demanding that the government should act now and come up with long term solutions to safeguard their livelihood.
